What makes hunting with Liege River Outfitting exceptional is
the combination of every aspect of the hunt. Our guides will provide
you with that great hunt your looking for, but you'll also appreciate
the level of service provided. Personable, and dedicated the company
you'll be with will make you feel like you're in your own backyard.
Your hunt will take place during the month of May. Hunts are
six days in length, with a travel day on each end. A Typical Day
will start with Rising mid-morning, as you are out late during
the evening hunt. Brunch, photos, skinning and other camp chores
will take up the morning and early afternoon. You will be fed
an early supper, and then taken out to your stand for the evenings
hunt. Of course, this may vary due to weather, bear movement or
your guide's judgement of the situation and intuition.
We recommend you bring the firearm that you are most comfortable
with. Black bears can be taken with just about any caliber that
you would use for deer. The lighter calibers (.243 - .270) will
work fine if you use well-constructed bullets, and the others
(.280 - .35) will get the job done in fine fashion. The old .30-06
and 180 grain bullets are pretty hard to beat for this kind of
hunting.Archery hunters must use a bow with a minimum draw weight
of 40 lbs and a broadhead that is at least one inch in width,
in accordance with Alberta hunting regulations. We recommend a
minimum draw weight of 50 lbs and a 125 grain broadhead. Shooting
distances at the archery stands will be about 20 yds and at the
rifle stands will vary from 20-50 yds.
If your hunting interest is moose these hunts take place in Sep/Oct
or Nov, Whichever is your choice. Rut hunts are 10 hunting days
and Nov hunts are 8 hunting days. We suggest that you fly in the
day before pickup and spend the night. This will allow us to pick
you up as early as possible and to get you into camp in time to
check the zero on your rifle and get you settled in.
TESTIMONIALS
" Dear Gordon,
Wow ! ! What a great time. I’d like you to know that your
guided Black Bear (Spring 2003) was exceptional. I’ve enjoyed
many fully guided big game hunt and your ranks #1 with me. Fantastic
food, comfortable accommodations, and lots of bears to choose
from (even a couple of wolves). You and your staff run a tight
ship and are very accommodating. There’s nothing I change.
Keep up the good work and I hope to hunt with you again very soon.

" When booking a guided hunt in Canada, one naturally expects
there will be plentiful game, excellent upbeat guides, flavor
rich food and good quarters.
Liege River outfitters fills the bill and more. On a recent moose
hunt with my wife the unexpected happened that tested Liege Rivers
commitment to their
hunters. A 20 year old neck problem flared up into two ruptured
disk after a first days hunt and two moose on the ground. Gord
and his crew treated me like favored kin. They took care of the
meat, had it cut, wrapped and arranged for the shipment home.
Even though I was down Gord set up a wolf bait for Janet and made
sure her hunt continued. This was a hunt that could have been
a disaster but turned into a real success due to Liege Rivers
commitment to "Hunting Satisfaction. "
